1. What we collect
When you request a quote or contact us we collect the details you provide: name, email address, phone number, collection and destination locations, and the description of your freight. We also record standard technical logs (IP address, browser type) for security purposes.
2. Why we process it
We use your details to prepare quotations, organise transport services, handle customs formalities where we act as your agent, invoice agreed services, and answer your enquiries. The legal basis is performance of a contract (or steps prior to entering a contract) and our legitimate interest in operating a freight business.
3. Cookies
We use a small set of cookies to keep the site working and — only with your consent via the cookie banner — anonymous statistics. Details are on our Cookies page. You can change or withdraw consent at any time.
4. Sharing
We share data only with parties needed to deliver the service: customs agents, ferry/tunnel operators where booking details are required, and IT providers that host this website and our mail. We never sell personal data.
5. Retention
Quotation enquiries are kept for up to 24 months. Records connected to completed transport are kept for the period required by UK and EU tax and customs law.
6. Your rights
You may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. Contact support@ssmtrans.com to exercise your rights. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK and believe we mishandled your data you may also complain to your local data protection authority or the ICO.
7. International transfers
Where data is transferred outside the UK/EEA (for example to sub-processors), we rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
